The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Education Holds an Awareness Seminar on Smoking and Its Harms
Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education, Assistant Professor Dr. Shireen Hamed Farhan, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the college and the Fallujah Teaching Hospital Directorate, held an awareness seminar on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, titled:
"Today's Cigarettes… Tomorrow's Diseases / Smoking Threatens the Future of Generations."
The seminar was managed by the head of the Psychological Counseling Unit at the college, Lecturer Khadija Ismail Ibrahim.
The first topic, titled "Smoking and Its Harmful Effects on Human Health," was presented by Dr. Diaa Mahmoud Farhan, Head of the Internal Medicine Department at Fallujah Hospital.
The second topic, "The Impact of Smoking on DNA," was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Shireen Hamed Farhan.
The seminar aimed to raise cultural awareness among the college students and reduce this harmful phenomenon, which causes physical, psychological, and environmental damage, and poses a serious negative impact on families and society.
The seminar was attended by the Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Thaer Abdullah Hassan; the Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Dhafir Akidi Fathi; along with a number of the college’s faculty members, staff, and students.
