The Arabic Language Department Holds a Scientific Seminar on the Negative Effects of Social Media

Under the supervision and presence of the esteemed Dean of the College of Education, Asst. Prof. Dr. Shereen Hamed Farhan, the Arabic Language Department, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, held a scientific seminar on Thursday, May 8, 2025, entitled:
"The Impact of Social Media Use on University Students."

The seminar was presented by the following esteemed faculty members:

Asst. Lecturer Mays Majid Mohammed

Asst. Lecturer Ammar Hameed Hawaf

The seminar aimed to raise cultural awareness among college students and to reduce the excessive use of online platforms in ways that negatively affect their time and reading habits. At the same time, it acknowledged that these platforms also hold positive aspects that students can benefit from—benefits that may not be available elsewhere.

The seminar was attended by the Dean of the College of Education, Asst. Prof. Dr. Shereen Hamed Farhan, accompanied by the Associate Dean for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Thaer Abdullah Hassan, the Associate Dean for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dhafer Agaydi Fathi, along with a number of professors, staff members, and college students.
